I'd Walk To You If I Had No Other Way..

I just got back from a trip home to Georgia late last week, and what a trip it was.  I also get a little nervous to go back - I never know how this trips will be.  Sometimes they are good for my soul and other times I have left feeling more restless than when I got there.  However, THIS particular trip brought a peace to me that I absolutely needed.

Some highlights of my trip were:

Getting to see sissy AND cousins at the airport
Hangin' out with my Grandma and getting to see Baby Will
Gettin' to see almost all of my family
Going to see NERO with my besties
Bachelorette party at my girl Brittney's house..super fun!
Girls' night at the Whistle Stop
Hanging out with Terry (the boy best friend)
Arriving at the airport to see my husband waiting at baggage claim :)

So, all in all it was a good trip.  There was a little bit of drama (not Blue Ridge related, though) that I had to deal with and, to a point, am still dealing with.  But, I can't let other people's words and actions dictate how I feel about myself on a daily basis.  One person doesn't equal everyone.  I just have to learn that some people just will not like you or your decisions, no matter what you try to do to make them feel otherwise.  Just gotta move forward from here.  Maybe more about that later...we will see.

Now I hit the ground running on our redeployment stuff for second platoon.  I'm nervous but excited to see how this turns out.  Seeing as how I have never actually gone through a deployment, leading this redeployment stuff has definitely been an experience.  But I've had some good advice and ideas thrown at me and I'm deifnitely willing to try anything once to see how it works.  So, keep your fingers crossed for a good redeployment!!

One last thing before I go.  A close friend and UGA alumni 1LT Bobby Woods was injured in action in Afghanistan over the weekend.  He and John commissioned together, he attended our wedding, and we had lunch with him at Ft. Campbell a few days before he left for deployment.  He sustained a gunshot to the left side of his head.  He was wearing his kevlar but we don't know where the bullet hit yet.  When he arrived at the hospital, he was conscious and talking.  He was put into a coma for surgery and they were able to remove the bullet and all fragments and they put a stint in his skull to drain it and lower the swelling.  He should be in Germany by now, so please remember our friend and his family in your prayers that he will have a safe and speedy recovery.  Love you, Bobby!

That's all for now - I might blog a little more later on this evening.  Right now, it's gym time.  I've been putting it off all morning.  lol.

1ove.
