So I'm thinking that I might just try out this recipe sometime soon. Yummmmyyyy!
I'm not even really a baker, although I really want to be. So I'm trying to learn, slowly but surely. Maybe one day I will be an amazing baker...or at least quasi-amazing. haha.

Back to school, back to school..
So today is my first day back at school. Well, technically tonight since the class is from 6 - 9. Either way, I'm nervous. I've never taken a lot of science classes (just the required ones in high school and then a biology in college)...so I don't really know what to expect. I do anticipate having to rely on my sister's brains to help me out on this one. lol. So this semester I have A&P and Nutrition and hopefully they will go alright. Still...*nervous*
FRG meeting tomorrow night, which I am completely unprepared for. I guess I will work on that stuff tonight and tomorrow. Next month will be my last one, though, which is kind of bittersweet. It will definitely come at a good itme because I'm not sure I could do both FRG and school, even if I'm just takign two classes. If I want to do well, I know I'm going to have to focus and study a lot more than I used to.
Ugh..I guess I don't really have much to say today. Except...well I'm a little disappointed in some of my "friends." You know...I am always there when people need me - I call to see if they are okay, I check in on them when I know they are having a rough time, I try to do nice things for them. But you know, when people don't need you anymore it's like you don't even exist...and that's what I'm going through right now. Not that I need people to be up in my business all the time...but not to hear from almost ANY of them after I leave Georgia? Not cool, guys. Especially those of you who have needed me as a shoulder to lean on here recently....go ahead and keep on pretending like I don't exist. You're in for a big wake up call...
/soap box.
I hope all of you are having a wonderful day. :) Will try to post a little when I get home from class this evening.

The Story
News story on 1LT Bobby Woods
Here's the news story on our friend, 1LT Bobby Woods, who is now recovering from a gunshot wound to the head in Afghanistan last weekend. My husband and I went to college with him and my husband commisioned with him, so we were all pretty worried there for awhile. According to his Facebook, where his mom, dad and close friends are posting, he is making great strides towards recovery, which is awesome news. Continue to pray for our friend. He's a great friend and soldier to us and we love him so much. Just continue to pray for everyone still overseas - this is proof that people are still getting injured and killed every day, whether we hear about it or not.

Back to school...again...
Today, I got everything set up to go back to school on post. I had almost forgotten what a huge hassle it all is...haha. They don't try to make it easy on you one bit. But, at least it's all set up (hopefully..) and classes start on Aug 16th. They are night classes which is both cool and sucky because nights are the only time when John is home. I need a degree that I can actually use, though...so I think this will turn out okay. Although it seems crazy, I'm sure, to finish up a bachelor's only to start another degree (an associates, actually)...it's just impossible to get a job unless you are specialized in something, like nursing. And I was never even really interested in that bachelor's degree anyway...I just kind of did it cause that's what I thought I was supposed to do and it was a pretty easy degree to finish. I have thought for a long time that I would do it totally different if I could go back again and so I kind of feel like that's what I'm getting to do now.
Other than that, I've just been getting all of this redeployment stuff together for second platoon in our company. For anyone who doesn't know, redeployment is basically the transfer of a unit from one place to another - in this case, from overseas to stateside. So we have been busy gearing up for that - planning the homecoming ceremony, the welcome home party and everything in between (gifts, linens for single soldiers, etc.). Hopefully 2nd platoon is happy with the way they are welcomed home...I know they weren't too thrilled with the way they were sent off (we had a different commander and FRG leader at the time) so we are trying to set things right, in a sense. I'm nervous about how it's going to turn out, though. We have been working hard on a lot of stuff and it would suck for everyone to end up disappointed anyway.
Also, John is fixing to get moved to a new company. Still here at FLW and same Battalion...just different company. He'll be moving to the 512th MP Company to take over as their Rear Detachment Commander for the remainder of their deployment. To explain a little - when a unit deploys (company, battalion, brigade, etc.) they leave behind a sort of skeleton crew and the Rear Detachment Commander is in charge of those people. He/she acts as commander here...they stay in contact with the commander and unit down range and also stay in contact with the families and help get information to them. He's not too super thrilled considering HHD is fixing to deploy and he would rather do that...but there's not much he can do about it at this point. I have mixed feelings...I don't want him to deploy, but I also can't help but want what he wants. *sigh*
That's about all I have I guess...I have a leadership meeting with my FRG leaders on Thursday. I'm anxious to see how that turns out considering everything that's been going on...which I will probably write more about at a later date, when it's not so fresh.

I'd Walk To You If I Had No Other Way..
I just got back from a trip home to Georgia late last week, and what a trip it was. I also get a little nervous to go back - I never know how this trips will be. Sometimes they are good for my soul and other times I have left feeling more restless than when I got there. However, THIS particular trip brought a peace to me that I absolutely needed.
Some highlights of my trip were:
Getting to see sissy AND cousins at the airport
Hangin' out with my Grandma and getting to see Baby Will
Gettin' to see almost all of my family
Going to see NERO with my besties
Bachelorette party at my girl Brittney's house..super fun!
Girls' night at the Whistle Stop
Hanging out with Terry (the boy best friend)
Arriving at the airport to see my husband waiting at baggage claim :)
So, all in all it was a good trip. There was a little bit of drama (not Blue Ridge related, though) that I had to deal with and, to a point, am still dealing with. But, I can't let other people's words and actions dictate how I feel about myself on a daily basis. One person doesn't equal everyone. I just have to learn that some people just will not like you or your decisions, no matter what you try to do to make them feel otherwise. Just gotta move forward from here. Maybe more about that later...we will see.
Now I hit the ground running on our redeployment stuff for second platoon. I'm nervous but excited to see how this turns out. Seeing as how I have never actually gone through a deployment, leading this redeployment stuff has definitely been an experience. But I've had some good advice and ideas thrown at me and I'm deifnitely willing to try anything once to see how it works. So, keep your fingers crossed for a good redeployment!!
One last thing before I go. A close friend and UGA alumni 1LT Bobby Woods was injured in action in Afghanistan over the weekend. He and John commissioned together, he attended our wedding, and we had lunch with him at Ft. Campbell a few days before he left for deployment. He sustained a gunshot to the left side of his head. He was wearing his kevlar but we don't know where the bullet hit yet. When he arrived at the hospital, he was conscious and talking. He was put into a coma for surgery and they were able to remove the bullet and all fragments and they put a stint in his skull to drain it and lower the swelling. He should be in Germany by now, so please remember our friend and his family in your prayers that he will have a safe and speedy recovery. Love you, Bobby!
That's all for now - I might blog a little more later on this evening. Right now, it's gym time. I've been putting it off all morning. lol.

Not all those who wander are lost...
Wow...I'm REALLY bad at this. I'm sure if I would get into some kind of blogging routine, I could actually write on some sort of regular basis. Well, we'll see. lol.
What I really need is a cool (but easy to navigate..haha) blog layout. This one looks so lame. Hopefully I'll find one somewhere and it won't be too hard to set up.
I don't guess too much has happened since I last wrote, though. My good friend Grace came to visit from Georgia, which was really fun. She was able to stay for a few days and get her first taste of what MY Army wife life is like..lol. It was, I'm sure, much much busier than I expect hers to be, at least when they first get to their first duty station. Also, John's older brother and his family came to visit while he was home on R&R. That was really fun - we had such a great time with our 3-year old niece. It was super weird having a little kid here for that long though...Although I'm excited to have at least one child with John, I know that I couldn't do it right this minute. Maybe next year or the year after...but I love the life we have now just hanging out with each other and not having to worry about too much. It has been pretty awesome so far. :)
Currently, I am working on a homecoming party for part of John's company who are coming home from deployment. Since his unit is weird and doesn't deploy as a whole, we have the daunting task of throwing parties for each group returning..which so far will be 3 over the course of the next year. Daunting...I'll tell you. However..it doesn't look like we'll be at the 13th for much longer. Right now, according to the BC, this is what it looks like John might be doing next: 50% Rear-D CO for 512th, 50% Rear-D for HHD, 50% deployment with HHD. Yes...I'm aware that's 150%. But I guess that's the way it rolls sometimes..lol. All of these are things he doesn't mind doing...however he really wants to get a deployment out of the way right now. So, I think he's keeping his fingers crossed on that one. Me...well...I'm just hoping that he gets placed where he is needed. I'm happy if he's happy...even if I would hate for him to leave, I know that's what he wants to do. The passion he has for being in the Army is like nothing I've ever seen before. It just makes me want to work that much harder to do something to make him proud, since I am so very proud of him. So, I guess we'll see what happens in the next couple of months!
I suppose that also means that I'll be handing over the FRG Leader position at some point in the next few months...I hope someone is ready to take it. There's so much I wanted to do before I left that I don't feel like I got to do...but I hope that I made some good steps toward creating an FRG that can be helpful to the company. I feel like I did but sometimes it's hard to tell. If only we could get soldiers and families more involved...there's SO much we could do if only we had just a little bit more support. As much as this position has made me frustrated, I really have enjoyed it..and might even think about doing it again. MAYBE. I would also be content to do the Senior Spouse Advisor thing...anything I can do to help out the families. Hopefully, someone will decide to step up and will continue on and make this an amazing FRG. :)
Going to Georgia on Thursday. It's always bittersweet because, although I love going home to see the family, I hate leaving John behind. I'm pretty excited though..this weekend looks to be a busy one - Grace's Scentsy party, Cortney's bachelorette party, and NERO at the Masquerade! Fun Fuuunn!
Anyway..I think that's enough for one night. Maybe if I can remember to blog more often, they won't have to be so long.

Why can't we...
....have a pool? I think the next house we have, requirements should be fenced-in yard and pool. A pool is serious business. At least people would want to come hang out at my house..lol. I would probably never get anything done. My parents had a pool up until a couple of years ago and it was awesome. I'm not the type of person to just sit in a pool all the livelong day...but having that option would be nice.
I guess I haven't blogged in a while. We've been really busy with just random stuff. I spoke in my last blog about our first big fundraiser, but we didn't end up doing it because it stormed. So, we will be doing it in a couple of week for the Army Birthday Celebration on FLW. It will be a "Dunk an MP" fundraiser, so we are hoping that lots of people will feel the urge to dunk one of our soldiers and help us raise money for our FRG. We have a PSD group deploying and another coming home at the end of the summer, and we need to raise some moo-lah so we can do something nice for both of groups of soldiers. :)
Also, this past weekend, we went to a motorcycle rally.

Anywho - the rally was fun and interesting. We did not win the poker run, sadly, but it was still a fun time. Can't wait til next year -- and maybe we can steal someone's camper for the weekend. lol. There were a ton of people there, especailly Saturday night, with some fun events. And I was able to get my leather vest and chaps, so now I'm officially a biker babe. :)
Not too much else going on. Currently, I'm trying to build my FRG roster. I have all of these forms in a notebook, but I much rather prefer a spreadsheet. I will be glad to have something I can look at in case I need to get in touch with someone though. I didn't realize how few people actually filled it out with their spouse's email address, phone number, etc. Since this is my first FRG, I don't have anything against it but apparantly a lot of people harbor negative feelings towards it (or at least towards ours, I don't know about others). I just wish people would give it a chance. We could really help a lot of spouses and families. I would love to be there and be a shoulder to lean on for our families, but some of them just will not let me. Maybe in time, people will learn to start depending more on our FRG for things. Until then, I just have to keep on truckin' I suppose. :)
One last thing. I'm very excited that my good friend, Grace, is coming to visit next week. She should arrive next Thursday afternoon. Her husband is about a month or so into BCT, so she's new to the Army wife thing. I've been trying to be a support system for her and, even though I am 10 hours away (she still lives in Blue Ridge), I think we've done alright. I've tried to be a good source of information for her, so I hope I'm doing alright. I would lalalalove it if they happened to get stationed at FLW. It would just be the bombdiggity. Anyway, she's coming for a visit and she just so happens to be coming during the busiest week of the summer, I think. LOL. Hopefully she will enjoy herself and get a glimpse into my life!
Oh, ,and yesterday I tried out a new salon for a haircut, recommended by my friend Becky. It's called Studio 5, over next to Seller-Sexton in St. Robert. It was a good place and I def. think I'll be going back. The girl who cut my hair was brand new - it was her first day, first cut, and she was a month out of school (I managed to pry this info out of her..lol). I was a little nervous about it at first, but she did a great job. So I'll be going back to her, I do believe!
Sorry this turned out to be so long. Maybe if I wouldn't leave so much time in between posts, I wouldn't have to type so much, huh? It's a thought..haha
